Open Sudoku Scan, tap the scan icon on the home screen, then choose Take Photo or Choose from Library. Line the puzzle grid up within the frame and hold steady — the app reads the numbers directly on your device and builds the puzzle automatically. No image is ever uploaded anywhere.
Try scanning again in good, even lighting with the grid filling as much of the frame as possible, avoiding glare and shadows. If a few digits still come out wrong, you can tap any cell after scanning to correct it manually before you start solving.
Tap the hint button to see the simplest next logical step, along with the name of the technique used (e.g. Naked Pair, X-Wing, Swordfish). Tap the technique name to highlight exactly which cells were used to find it, so you can learn to spot the pattern yourself next time.
Yes. Go to Settings within the app to adjust the level of hinting and highlighting, or turn automated hint elimination on or off.
